Answer Question
Audio echo in mixed headset / phone conferences
We are trying to troubleshoot audio echo issues when in a mixed audio mode, headset (voip) / dial-in Interactive Meeting conferences. The echo problem has manifested itself in a couple different ways. Typical call scenario is an interactive meeting with the host on a headset and other participants dialing in. On some occasions, the echo has been of the headset user only and has been audible to everyone on the call, in other cases the echo has been on the dial-in user's audio and has been audible only to those on the dial in bridge. When the echo has been audible to everyone on the call, it is has been reported that only the headset user is echoing and muting the headset user stops the echoing. Interestingly, when the echo has only been audible to those on the dial-in bridge and not the headset user, the dialed in users hear their voices echo, but muting the headset user stops the echo for all of the dialed in users. Not sure if those datapoints help, but as of right now, these mixed audio mode calls are proving quite problematic. The headset in use is a USB connected Microsoft LifeChat LX-4000 (pretty standard monoral headset design with the mic located approx. 4" from the single padded ear cup). This headset is used successfully, multiple times a day on externally initiated calls using other conferencing products (join.me, 8x8, Skype, Webex, etc.).
