We are starting Outlook because it is your default Windows mail reader. If you choose another default Windows mail reader, we will start it up.
The "Integrate with Outlook" feature enables or disables a toolbar in Outlook.

I was having the same problem as the original poster: Thunderbird is what I use for email, but only TurboMeeting invites were starting up Outlook.
Go here: Windows 7->Control Panel->Default Programs->Set your default programs->Choose the email program you want to use for TurboMeeting invites->Choose defaults for this program
Make sure you CHECK the boxes in front of "MAILTO" under Protocols, and "Send mail" under MAPI.
Now my invites go through Thunderbird just fine.
This tip will probably also work under Windows Vista but I'm not able to test it.
